On May 7, 2025, the German-Azerbaijani Chamber of Commerce (AHK Azerbaijan) held its Members’ Assembly, gathering over 100 representatives from the business community. As a key event held twice a year, the Assembly brought together AHK members to reflect on the Chamber’s activities, discuss strategic priorities, and strengthen business ties.
The meeting kicked off with a welcoming address delivered by Mr. Anar Hasanov, Chairman of the Board of AHK Azerbaijan, who proudly announced that 21 new member companies had joined in 2025, bringing the total membership to 194. Mr. Hasanov outlined the Chamber’s recent activities, highlighted the contributions of working groups, introduced a new Public Relations Working Group, and shared details on upcoming delegation trips and social events to boost bilateral economic cooperation.
Following that, Nargis Wieck, Executive Director of AHK Azerbaijan, presented the Chamber’s strategic vision, emphasizing that AHK Azerbaijan is only as strong as its members. Representing companies of all sizes across various sectors, AHK Azerbaijan sees itself as the united voice of its members: “We see ourselves at AHK as your voice, one that should address policymakers and stakeholders in both countries,” she stated. Ms. Wieck also introduced new formats and initiatives aimed at strengthening political advocacy, creating more effective networking platforms, increasing visibility for member companies, and expanding business matchmaking opportunities. She reaffirmed AHK Azerbaijan’s commitment to creating bilateral projects and strategic partnerships that drive the economic growth of both nations.
Our Guest of Honour, Dr. Ralf Horlemann, Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Azerbaijan, highlighted in his speech the importance of deepening economic ties with Azerbaijan and underlined that the country’s growing focus on renewable energy, alongside its traditional resources, will be crucial for its role in the European energy market. He also shared insights into the new German government’s priorities, including sustainability and green transformation. Looking ahead, he pointed to the 10th session of the Germany–Azerbaijan High-Level Working Group on Trade and Investments as a key opportunity to advance cooperation. “AHK Azerbaijan and its members are well placed to bring German expertise to Azerbaijan – I encourage them to play an active role in this process”, he stated.
The meeting concluded with the introduction of new members and a business dinner, providing avaluable opportunity for networking and fostering collaboration.
