British Ambassador Learned Azerbaijani in Ganja

The United Kingdom’s new Ambassador to Azerbaijan, Duncan Norman, has spoken about his first visit to the country and his experience of learning the Azerbaijani language.

"innews media" reports that D. Norman said at a press conference in Baku that he first visited Azerbaijan in 1999.

The ambassador noted that in early 2025, while learning Azerbaijani, he stayed with a family in Ganja. He said the family’s hospitality allowed him to gain a deeper understanding of Azerbaijan:

“The patience and generosity of this family, who welcomed me into their home and their lives, taught me as much about this country as I could have learned in any classroom.”
