Azerbaijan National Carpet Museum Took Part in the 40th International Festival of Folk Arts in Budapest

The 40th International Festival of Folk Arts took place in Budapest, Hungary, from 20 to 23 August.

For the second consecutive year, the Azerbaijan National Carpet Museum is representing Azerbaijan at this prestigious international event. The Museum’s stand showcased examples of Azerbaijani carpet weaving and kelaghayi-making, both inscribed on UNESCO’s Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. The books dedicated to these traditional art forms were also presented at the stand.

Throughout the festival, visitors had the opportunity to take part in masterclasses on carpet weaving and kelaghayi-making, explore the techniques involved in creating these traditional art forms, and learn more about the meanings and symbolism conveyed through their patterns and colours.

The Azerbaijan National Carpet Museum participated in the festival with the support of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the State Committee on Work with the Diaspora of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Azerbaijan House in Hungary.

Organised by the Association of Hungarian Folk Arts at Buda Castle, the festival aims to promote diverse forms of folk art and raise international awareness of traditional cultural practices, while also fostering cultural exchange and connections among artists from different countries.
