The festival hosted the long-awaited concert of Honored Artist of Azerbaijan Shahin Novrasli on the evening of Thursday, July 9. The concert generated tremendous excitement among the audience with the festival venue and surrounding open space completely filled with spectators. The concert also featured musicians Isac Jamba (drums), Elshad Abdurahimov (nagara), Ziya Huseynzadeh (bass), and Rain Sultanov (saxophone).
Shahin Novrasli's concert was the culmination of the festival and a true celebration of jazz improvisation, where each composition was born anew on stage. The musician masterfully combined classical technique with absolute freedom of creative expression, transforming familiar themes into a lively musical dialogue with the audience. Particularly impressive were the improvisational episodes, in which Shahin Novrasli effortlessly transitioned from subtle lyrical intonations to swift, virtuosic passages. His performance was distinguished by emotional depth, exquisite improvisation, a subtle sense of form, and an unwavering openness to spontaneous exploration—qualities that make jazz a living art of the present moment. The concert concluded to thunderous applause and the audience's complete admiration.
Shahin Novrasli Festival 2026 takes place in Icheri Sheher from July 2 to 12. Over the course of ten days, residents and visitors of Baku will enjoy a special program of music from various genres performed by renowned musicians from ten countries. Shahin Novrasli Festival 2026 will also feature a festival fair, daily DJ sets, a concert featuring young talent, a literary competition, and jam sessions.
