On May 19, the Azerbaijan National Carpet Museum has held the opening ceremony of the Art Bridge... Azerbaijan – Turkey solo exhibition, showcasing up to 50 works created in different styles and genres by artist Eldaniz Babayev. The event also included the presentation of eponymous documentary film.
The event is dedicated to the 55th jubilee of the artist and brings together several key points in terms of idea and content. The opening date of the exhibition, May 19, marks Commemoration of Atatürk, Youth and Sports Day. This is an expression of the strength of historic, cultural and spiritual ties between Azerbaijan and Turkey.
The exhibition features the portraits of Heydar Aliyev, the National Leader of Azerbaijan; Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, the Founding Father of the Republic of Turkey; warlords who played major role in the Turkic history and independence of our nations and poets who sang the independence ideas of Azerbaijan and Turkey in their creativity. The exhibition also features the sketch of Babayev’s Ataturk Greets İşbank Employees – 1927 (2025) work. This work is currently on display at the showroom of İşbank (Istanbul, Turkey) dedicated to Ataturk. Along with that, the exhibition includes the works reflecting culture, traditions and household of the two countries.
Furthermore, as an artistic expression of the historic friendship and cultural ties between the Turks and Hungarian people, the exhibition presents the works reflecting the ethnography of the Hungarian people and portrait of the poet of independence, Sándor Petőfi.
The exhibition is completed by the portrait of Latif Karimov, an outstanding carpet scientist and People’s Artist and carpet-themed tableaus. These works were created on the occasion of Latif Karimov’s 120th anniversary.
The exhibition is supported by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Turkey, the Embassy of the Republic of Turkey in the Republic of Azerbaijan, International Organisation of Turkic Culture (TURKSOY), Azerbaijan National Carpet Museum, Ataturk Centre, Yunus Emre Institute, Baku Central Agency for Culture, “Icherisheher” State Historical-Architectural Reserve and Baku Art Gallery.
The exhibition is on until June 2, 2026.
