The regular meeting of the “Internet Access and Internet Infrastructure” Working Group under the Commission on Business Environment and International Rankings, chaired by the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport, was held. The meeting was attended by the head and members of the Working Group, as well as representatives of the private sector.
In his opening remarks, the head of the Working Group, Deputy Minister of Digital Development and Transport Samaddin Asadov, noted that Azerbaijan’s utilities sector, particularly internet services, had been assessed with high results in the World Bank’s Business Ready (B-READY) 2025 report. He stated that according to the report, Azerbaijan ranked 5th among 101 countries in terms of operational efficiency of internet services, scoring 31.05 points. Overall, in the utilities indicator, Azerbaijan secured 25th place with 83.05 points, thereby outperforming regional countries.
At the meeting, a report was presented on the work carried out in 2025 under the Roadmap for the implementation of improvements and communications in the relevant area related to the “Utilities (Internet)” indicator of the World Bank Group’s Business Ready report.
The meeting also featured a presentation on the report covering activities carried out during the first quarter under the approved 2026 Roadmap for the said indicator, and the forthcoming tasks were identified.
The head of the Working Group noted that, with a view to improving the business environment and further enhancing Azerbaijan’s position in international rankings, relevant measures are being implemented by the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport, as well as other competent authorities.
