The final day of the ITF Summit held in Leipzig, Germany, under Azerbaijan’s presidency was also marked by important discussions.

As part of the Summit, a session entitled “The Middle Corridor: Strategic Investment in Resilient, Competitive and Future-Ready Eurasian Connectivity” was organized.

In his remarks, Deputy Minister of Digital Development and Transport Rahman Hummatov stated that the Middle Corridor has emerged as a key connectivity route linking Asia and Europe. The corridor provides faster transit, route stability, and access to new markets. Azerbaijan’s main priority is to transform its geographical advantage into a modern and efficient transit system. To this end, substantial investments have been made in major infrastructure projects, including the Baku–Tbilisi–Kars railway, the Baku International Sea Port, and the Alat Free Economic Zone, which integrates various modes of transport. Alongside infrastructure development, particular attention is being paid to simplifying procedures, strengthening coordination among different modes of transport, and implementing digital solutions.

Deputy Minister Rahman Hummatov noted that the Summit was successful and featured broad and forward-looking discussions. He emphasized that the adoption of policy recommendations and the increase in membership represent important milestones. The accession of Ghana, Panama, and Peru to the ITF further strengthens the organization’s global character.

By prioritizing green transport, digital logistics, and sustainability issues, the presidency accelerated modernization processes in these areas. At the same time, Azerbaijan’s role as a transit and logistics hub was reinforced, creating new opportunities for investment and partnership in the development of transport connectivity.
