On 8 May, as part of the Thirteenth Session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13), students at Karabakh University received an in-depth briefing on the event’s objectives, its significance for the country, and a range of topics resonating with young people. The session, organised by the WUF13 Azerbaijan Operations Company, formed part of wider efforts to engage youth in advancing sustainable urban development.
Rolled out nationwide, these awareness initiatives are intended to deepen young people’s understanding of sustainable urban development and modern management practices, while fostering more active engagement in these processes.
As part of the programme, an interactive training session on Sustainable Project Management was delivered. Experts from the Project Thinking School shared their practical experience and expertise in the field, offering participants valuable insights. Attendees also had the opportunity to work through practical tasks, applying project management processes in an engaging and hands-on format.
In addition, students took part in the internationally recognised Sea Wolf Game business simulation, an interactive exercise designed to sharpen skills in strategic decision-making, planning and teamwork. At the close of the three-hour workshop, winning teams and standout participants were awarded a range of prizes.
The primary aim of the event was to promote modern management approaches in the Karabakh region and to raise awareness among young people of the principles of the Green Project Management (GPM) P5 Standard (Product, Process, People, Planet and Prosperity). This approach is intended to bring together business efficiency, social responsibility and environmental stewardship in the delivery of future projects.
