Speaker of Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova Meets with Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Sudan in our Country

Speaker of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova has met with Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Republic of the Sudan in our country Anas Eltayeb Elgailani Mustafa.

The 35th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the countries, due next year, and the existence of opportunities to develop the links between the two countries were mentioned during the course of the meeting. It was emphasised that Chairman of the Transitional Sovereign Council of the Republic of the Sudan Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan Abdelrahman Al-Burhan had paid visits to our country in 2019 and 2024 and that a meeting of the Heads of State was arranged on the sidelines of the Antalya Diplomacy Forum last year. The development vectors of the relationship were defined during those contacts, it was remarked at the meeting.

As the conversation continued, Speaker Sahiba Gafarova addressed the successful co-operation of Azerbaijan and Sudan and the two countries’ permanent mutual support in the United Nations (UN), Organisation of Islamic Co-operation (OIC), the Non-Aligned Movement and other international organisation. She mentioned that, the Milli Majlis, too, is interested on co-operating with the Sudanese side in international parliamentary organisations eventually.

Ambassador Anas Eltayeb Elgailani stressed his following the activities of the Milli Majlis of Azerbaijan closely and praised highly Azerbaijan’s leading role in the development of international inter-parliamentary dialogue and co-operation.

The existing humanitarian links were reviewed at the meeting as well; gratitude was expressed for our country having afforded Sudanese students educational allowances; besides, there was an exchange of opinions concerning other matters of joint interest.
