AzerGold CJSC has launched reclamation works at its processing complex located near Chovdar village in the Dashkasan region, in line with national and international regulations, as well as environmental protection and sustainable development principles.

At the Chovdar Integrated Regional Processing Area (CIRPA), a 15-hectare section of the waste rock dump—currently inactive and covering a total of 88 hectares—has already undergone topsoil restoration and slope stabilization. As part of the next phase, 300 kilograms of alfalfa seeds have been sown under biological reclamation measures. These efforts aim to improve soil structure and support the gradual restoration of the ecosystem.

Further stages of the project will focus on continuing land restoration in other parts of the mine where soil fertility has been affected by extraction activities. In this context, reclamation is carried out as an integral part of the company’s environmental responsibility, in compliance with legal requirements and international standards.

It is worth noting that AzerGold CJSC is the first mining company in the country to implement reclamation works. The company has previously completed similar activities at the depleted Agyokhush-1 gold mine.
