Speaker of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova has met with Vice Speaker of the Parliament of Venezuela Grecia Colmenares on the margins of the 152nd Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) held in Istanbul.
The issues of the co-operation between the Parliaments were reviewed in the conversation.
Satisfaction was expressed during the meeting with our countries’ co-operation in a number of international organisations including UN and the Non-Aligned Movement. It was pointed out that Venezuela has seconded all the initiatives motioned by the Government of Azerbaijan during our country’s chairmanship tenure in the Non-Aligned Movement.
Speaker Sahiba Gafarova told at the conversation about the institutional progress of the Parliamentary Network of the Non-Aligned Movement, which had been established upon the instance of the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, and about also the work done on achieving the Organisation’s goals. The Vice Speaker of the Parliament of Venezuela praised highly the work of the Parliamentary Network, saying that her country is actively involved in its operation.
There was also an exchange of views upon other matters of shared interest at the meeting.
