A bilateral meeting of the Speakers of Parliament of Azerbaijan and Armenia was held in the frameworks of the 152nd Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) in Istanbul on 17 April.

The latest processes concerning strengthening peace and stability as well as building and expanding trade links within the frameworks of normalising the relations between the two countries were mentioned with content in the course of the meeting.

The role of the IPU Assembly as a substantial co-operation platform was underscored in the conversation and, from this viewpoint, high praise was given to the endeavours made by the Organisation’s Secretary General Martin Chungong to build the dialogue of the Speakers of Parliament of Azerbaijan and Armenia, with thanks being said to him.

The Speakers commended the contacts between the Parliamentary Delegations in the formats of international organisations since the Geneva meeting of October 2025 and reached an agreement to continue such contacts.

The Speakers emphasised at the meeting the significance of continuing a constructive parliamentary dialogue for strengthening of trust between the two societies further.
