During her working visit to the city of Istanbul of Türkiye, Speaker of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova has met with President of the People’s National Assembly of the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria.
The parties shared views at the meeting concerning the relations between our amicable countries. They mentioned the existing favourable opportunities to continue developing the ties between Azerbaijan and Algeria. Also, contentment was registered with the current political dialogue level; it was said that our countries demonstrate mutual support and solidarity, including within international organisations.
As was mentioned in the conversation, the ties between our Parliaments constitute an important vector of our countries’ relations whereas reciprocal visits and meetings of the Speakers of Parliament and MPs’ regular dialogue lead to a continued deepening of those relations. What else was mentioned was that the endeavours of the friendship groups promote a further deepening of the connections.
Speaker of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova remarked that our Parliaments co-operate successfully in international parliamentary organisations, too, and that our legislative bodies’ mutual support is there in those organisations. Opinions were voiced in this relation as to a continued development of the ties within the Parliamentary Network of the Non-Aligned Movement, incepted upon the initiative of the President of Azerbaijan and having attained dramatic successes in its own institutional evolution and solidification of international reputation under the chairmanship of the Milli Majlis. It was said that the Parliamentary Network had become an important platform both to discuss a number of international highlights and to continue broadening co-operation amongst Parliaments.
There was at the meeting also an exchange of opinions about other matters of joint interest.
