As part of her working visit to the city of Istanbul of Türkiye, Speaker of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova has met with Chairman of the House of Councillors of the Parliament of the Kingdom of Morocco Mohamed Ould Errachid.
The standards set by the links existing between Azerbaijan and Morocco were lauded at the meeting; the parties expressed contentment with the advancement of the political dialogue as well as mutual support and solidarity in international organisations.
It was said at the meeting that the inter-parliamentary ties are an important means of developing the bilateral relations. The significance of expanding contacts between parliamentary committees and friendship groups was highlighted in this regard.
The parties also emphasised the role of platforms such as the Inter-Parliamentary Union and the Parliamentary Network of the Non-Aligned Movement in terms of inter-parliamentary co-operation and pointed up the need to strengthen interaction and co-ordination within these frameworks.
Speaker of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova praised highly Mohamed Ould Errachid’s participation of the 5th Conference of the Parliamentary Network of the Non-Aligned Movement and the speech he had delivered there.
A Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the House of Councillors of the Parliament of the Kingdom of Morocco following the meeting.
Speaker Sahiba Gafarova commented that the Memorandum of Understanding will make it possible to broaden the inter-parliamentary institutional co-operation including strengthening the bounds between the committees and friendship groups, as well as co-ordinate the activities upon international platforms more efficiently.
