A scientific seminar dedicated to the “Year of Urban Development and Architecture” was held at the Faculty of Information and Document Management at Baku State University (BSU).
At the seminar, Nadir Ismailov, Head of the Department of Document Management at BSU, presented a paper titled “Information Resources on Architectural Monuments of Shusha, the Cultural Capital of the Turkic World.”
Ismailov highlighted the significance of declaring 2026 as the “Year of Urban Development and Architecture” in Azerbaijan and stressed the importance of conducting scientific research in this field.
His presentation provided an in-depth analysis of how Shusha’s rich architectural heritage and historical monuments are reflected in information resources. Shusha was noted as a major cultural center, not only in Azerbaijan but across the Turkic world, making the systematic documentation, digitization, and integration of its architectural monuments into international information systems a pressing task. The study included a comparative analysis of documentary and digital resources, examining their structure, content, and use in scholarly dissemination.
The seminar emphasized that systematic analysis of these resources enhances the study of architectural heritage and supports the development of effective information systems. The report also highlighted the role of libraries and information institutions, the application of modern metadata standards, and ongoing projects in the field.
The session concluded with a discussion among participants.
