The “Unspoken Truths” exhibition initiated by Sabina Aliyeva, the Ombudsman of Azerbaijan within the premises of the Institution, has concluded. The exhibition showcases historical facts concerning the genocide and ethnic cleansing policies carried out against Azerbaijanis throughout history.
At the event, Deputy Head of the Ombudsman Office Rashid Rumzada delivered a speech, emphasizing that the exhibition’s importance in conveying to the international community the historical facts regarding the genocide and ethnic cleansing crimes committed against Azerbaijanis, as well as in passing these truths on to future generations.
Aziz Alekberli, Chair of the Board of the Western Azerbaijan Community and a Member of Parliament, along with Khatayi Alasgarli, Chair of the Dede Alasgar Ocagi Public Union also spoke at this event. They spoke about the deportation and ethnic cleansing policies carried out against Azerbaijanis by Armenia over many years, particularly the forced expulsion of hundreds of thousands of our compatriots from Western Azerbaijan, which is now the territory of present-day Armenia.
At the conclusion of the event, the Statement of the Ombudsman of Azerbaijan on the occasion of March 31 – the Day of Genocide of Azerbaijanis was read. The statement emphasized that March 31 was officially established as the Day of Genocide of Azerbaijanis for the first time under the relevant Decree of National Leader Heydar Aliyev, thereby providing a political assessment of those events.
The publications and archival documents, photographs, and other materials displayed at the exhibition, held from March 2 to March 31, were met with great interest by both local and foreign visitors. Participants also recorded their impressions in the exhibition’s guestbook.
