Azerbaijan plays an important role in energy security maintenance in a vast region; at the same time, the continuing investments in the green energy sector are going to make this input stronger still.
Speaker of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova offered this thought in her address to the Annual Conference of the Boao Forum for Asia, held in the People's Republic of China.
The speaker of the parliament of Azerbaijan also mentioned our country’s having become one of the key Eurasian transport hubs, that our country was amongst the first to back the One Belt. One Road Initiative and that she continues contributing to its development actively.
It was mentioned that Azerbaijan is the second country after China in terms of the amount of investment put in this initiative. It was said that that the Middle Corridor has today already proved its worth as one of the most optimal and secure routes connecting Europe with Central Asia and China via the Caspian Sea.
Additionally, according to the Speaker of the Milli Majlis, the efficiency of the Middle Corridor will be further enhanced by the restoration of transport and communications links between the western regions of our country and the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic in the context of the peace process between Azerbaijan and Armenia. The Middle Corridor is increasingly establishing itself as precisely a reliable and efficient route linking Europe with Asia.
