On January 22, 2026 the Baku Stock Exchange (BSE), in partnership with PwC, jointly hosted a seminar titled “Capital Markets and IPOs: Road to Growth”, bringing together representatives of the private sector, investment companies, and capital market professionals to discuss alternative financing instruments and growth opportunities through capital markets.
The event opened with welcome remarks by Mr. Ruslan Khalilov, CEO of the Baku Stock Exchange, and Mr. Shaukat Tapia, Country Managing Partner for PwC Azerbaijan, who highlighted the importance of capital markets in supporting sustainable business growth, diversification of financing sources, and the development of a transparent and resilient financial ecosystem in Azerbaijan.
The seminar featured two panel discussions focusing on key aspects of capital market financing.
The first panel, “Bond Market – Pros and Cons in Alternative Financing Sources,” explored the role of bond issuance as a financing tool, drawing parallels between local and international market practices. Discussions covered the benefits of bond issuance for companies, practical considerations for issuers, and the importance of improving financial awareness among market participants.
The second panel, “IPO Market – Why Should Companies Go Public?”, focused on the readiness and challenges companies face when entering public markets. Speakers shared lessons learned from successful IPO experiences in the region, including Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan, and emphasized the critical role of strong corporate governance in enhancing market readiness and investor confidence.
The panels were led by experts from PwC’s international team, alongside representatives of local investment companies and experts from the Baku Stock Exchange, enabling a balanced exchange of global perspectives and local market insights.
The event served as a platform for dialogue on how capital markets can support long-term growth, improve access to funding, and strengthen the overall investment environment in Azerbaijan. The Baku Stock Exchange and PwC reaffirmed their commitment to continuing joint initiatives aimed at increasing awareness, capacity building, and practical understanding of capital market instruments among businesses.
