Samir Mammadov, Deputy Minister of Digital Development and Transport (MDDT), met with Lord John Alderdice, the United Kingdom’s Trade Envoy to Azerbaijan and Central Asia, who is currently visiting Azerbaijan.
The trade envoy was provided with detailed information on the investments made and projects implemented in Azerbaijan’s transport and communication infrastructure over the past 20 years. It was highlighted that thanks to Azerbaijan’s active cooperation with Central Asian countries and other states located along the Middle Corridor, the volume of transportation on this route has increased several-fold in recent years.
Information was provided on the work carried out on the construction of the Zangezur Corridor, and it was emphasized that the project will contribute to the diversification of regional communications as well as the promotion of lasting peace and prosperity in the region.
The meeting also included an exchange of views on the priority areas on the partnership agenda between Azerbaijan and the United Kingdom, including prospects for joint activities in aviation and rail transport, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and the development of human capital with digital knowledge and skills.
