A diplomatic briefing for UN missions and representatives of the international community was organized at the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) headquarters in Geneva. The session was led by ITU Secretary-General Doreen Bogdan-Martin, Director of the Telecommunication Development Bureau Cosmas Luckyson Zavazava, and Azerbaijan’s Permanent Representative to the UN Office in Geneva and other international organizations, Galib Israfilov.
The briefing provided information about the World Telecommunication Development Conference (WTDC-25), scheduled to take place in Baku from 17 to 28 November this year. Discussions emphasized the event’s important role in promoting universal, convenient, and accessible connectivity for all, as well as in fostering an inclusive and sustainable digital future.
Participants were also briefed on the logistical arrangements for the conference, including registration, accommodation, transportation, and sustainability measures. It was highlighted that a simplified e-visa system for WTDC-25 participants is now active and accessible via the official online portal, facilitating smoother entry to Azerbaijan.
The ITU leadership expressed its gratitude to the Government of Azerbaijan, as well as the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Digital Development and Transport, for their close cooperation and continuous support in preparing for WTDC-25.
