The Regional Transport Ministers’ Conference (RTMC) is taking place in Islamabad, the capital of Pakistan. Rahman Hummatov, Deputy Minister of Digital Development and Transport of Azerbaijan, is attending the event, which brings together representatives from 27 countries.

Deputy Minister Rahman Hummatov delivered a speech at the conference, highlighting the development of transport corridors in Azerbaijan and across the region. He emphasized that Azerbaijan, situated at the crossroads of East and West, North and South, has long played the role of a vital transit hub connecting Europe with Central and South Asia. He noted that the country has invested heavily in large-scale infrastructure projects and established a multimodal transport network. In 2024, the total transit volume increased 2.5 times compared to 2019, reaching 14.5 million tons, about 30% of which was transported through the Middle Corridor.

Highlighting the significance of the Zangezur Corridor, Deputy Minister Rahman Hummatov noted that this route plays a key role not only in the East–West direction but also in enhancing North–South and South–West connectivity. He stated that the corridor is expected to transport 15 million tons of cargo annually, significantly boosting the region’s trade potential.

Within the framework of the Regional Transport Ministers’ Conference, Deputy Minister of Digital Development and Transport Rahman Hummatov held several bilateral meetings. During these meetings, the parties discussed prospects for cooperation, as well as current and planned transport projects in Azerbaijan and the wider region.
