A network of the European Union National Institutes for Culture (EUNIC) in Azerbaijan, chaired by the Embassy of Lithuania in Azerbaijan together with the Ukrainian Cultural Center in Baku and in partnership with the Delegation of the European Union to the Republic of Azerbaijan, invites everyone to take part in the European Day of Languages celebrations with a series of events, starting this week and continuing through October.
The programme will showcase Europe’s rich linguistic and cultural diversity, encourage people of all ages to discover new languages, and demonstrate how languages serve as bridges between cultures while strengthening ties between Europe and Azerbaijan.
Events will feature language workshops hosted by the embassies and the Ukrainian Cultural Center, interactive introductions to European languages at several universities in Baku with Ambassadors, diplomats, translators, and experts, as well as literary presentations of books translated into Azerbaijani from various European languages. Highlights include the Ukrainian Cultural Center’s workshop on Nadiia Kyrei’s children book Who Stole My Anger? on 28 September at the Ukrainian Center, and the Lithuanian Embassy’s presentation of the Azerbaijani translation of children book Happiness is a Fox on 5 October at Ali and Nino Bookstore, which will include both the author and illustrator, along with an interactive workshop.
Languages – your bridge to the future! For more information, follow the websites of the participating embassies, the Delegation of the European Union and the Ukrainian Cultural Center.
