Fagan Abdurakhmanov, Deputy Director of the State Agency for Renewable Energy Sources under the Ministry of Energy, conducted an information session at the Faculty of Ecology and Soil Science, Baku State University (BSU). The session, titled “Renewable Energy Sources and the Development of Green Energy in Azerbaijan: Current Situation and Future Prospects,” focused on national strategies and ongoing initiatives in the field of sustainable energy.
In his opening remarks, Dean of the Faculty Akif Agbabali highlighted the significance of such educational events in enhancing students’ knowledge and practical skills, as well as supporting informed career choices. He also emphasized the importance of student internships at the State Agency’s specialized departments and participation in exchange programs.
During the session, Mr. Abdurakhmanov discussed the vital role of green energy in environmental protection. He provided an in-depth overview of ongoing and prospective projects in wind and solar energy, focusing on their production processes, economic viability, and potential. He also shared data on the current state of renewable energy use in Azerbaijan, the capacity of existing wind and solar power plants, and future development plans in the sector.
The event concluded with a Q&A session, during which students had the opportunity to engage directly with the speaker.
