The Milli Majlis actively participates in the work of various parliamentary organisations. Speaker of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova stated this in her speech at the 15th Plenary Session of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly (APA). She said that, apart from the APA, the Azerbaijani Parliament currently chairs three other inter-parliamentary organisations: the Parliamentary Assembly of the Economic Co-operation Organisation, the Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic States and the Parliamentary Network of the Non-Aligned Movement. 

According to the speaker, such activity reflects the Milli Majlis’ strong commitment to the principles of multilateral parliamentary diplomacy. She particularly emphasised that the Parliamentary Network of the Non-Aligned Movement was established on the initiative of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, representing yet another significant contribution by the country to the development of multilateral co-operation.
