Deputy of the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan and Deputy Chair of the Culture Committee, Gunay Afandiyeva, paid a business visit to Istanbul, Turkiye. During her visit, she met with the Director of the Istanbul Turkish and Islamic Arts Museum, Ekrem Aytar. Turkish journalist and researcher Shamil Kucur also participated in the meeting.
In the meeting, Gunay Afandiyeva highlighted the centuries-old rich cultural values shared by the fraternal countries, Azerbaijan and Turkiye. She noted that the existing friendship and brotherhood between the two states also contribute to strengthening close cooperation in the field of culture. Gunay Afandiyeva emphasized that the tangible and intangible heritage of Azerbaijan and Turkiye, as a legacy of their ancient past, also serves as a significant means of fostering intercultural dialogue and cooperation in the modern era.
The parliamentarian expressed her readiness to always support joint projects and initiatives aimed at further strengthening cultural relations between Azerbaijan and Turkiye.
Ekrem Aytar, Director of the Istanbul Turkish and Islamic Arts Museum, provided information about the history of the museum and its activities in the preservation of Turkish cultural heritage.
The meeting continued with an extensive exchange of ideas and experiences on the preservation, modernization, and transfer to future generations of the ancient tangible and intangible heritage belonging to Azerbaijan and Turkiye.
