A landmark event for Azerbaijani art took place in Baku with the opening of Aydan Mammadova’s personal gallery, AYDANI, and her solo exhibition, “Night of the Pomegranate.” Known for her bold and symbolic works, Mammadova celebrates the pomegranate as a timeless emblem of Azerbaijan’s heritage.

Aydan Mammadova, a member of the Union of Artists of Azerbaijan, recipient of the UNESCO award, and a master’s graduate of the Azerbaijan State Academy of Fine Arts, has represented the country in numerous international exhibitions in the USA, Spain, the UAE, South Korea, Turkey, Cyprus, and others. She was also invited to a symposium in Rome, Italy, where she proudly showcased Azerbaijani art.

The AYDANI gallery, located in the heart of the city, captures the essence of modern Baku by showcasing both classical and digital art. Inspired by Azerbaijan’s iconic pomegranate, Mammadova dedicated her solo exhibition to this symbol of abundance and beauty.

The exhibition attracted prominent intellectuals, artists, art historians, public figures, and representatives from the Ministry of Culture, alongside journalists and media. Notable attendees included Agali Ibrahimov, Secretary of Azerbaijan’s Artists’ Union and People’s Artist; Ziyadxan Aliyev, Honored Art Worker and Doctor of Philosophy in Art History; Galib Gasimov, Head of the West Azerbaijan Community; and Shirin Melikova, Director of the National Art Museum and Doctor of Philosophy in Art History.

One of the highlights of the event was Mammadova’s innovative approach to incorporating the pomegranate into her compositions. A 6x3-meter painting was showcased, marking the first time a work of this scale has been presented in contemporary Azerbaijani art, leaving a lasting impression on art enthusiasts.

Adding a modern twist to the exhibition, Sevil Karimova created a digital animation titled “Happiness,” which complemented Mammadova’s painting of the same name.

The opening ceremony also included a unique buffet presentation, featuring live flowers and pomegranate branches as part of the decorations. The event concluded with an impressive fire show performed by the head chef, centered around the pomegranate theme.

In addition to serving as an exhibition space, AYDANI gallery also offers courses in traditional and digital art, aiming to nurture the next generation of artists.
