During the Plenary Session, the video message of Azerbaijan National NGO Forum (AMQF) Board Chairman Ramil Iskandarli about the COP29 NGO Coalition international platform, which was created at the initiative of the ANNF within the framework of the 57th session of the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva, Switzerland, was broadcast.

Ramil Iskandarli stated the following in his video message:

-“I would like to emphasize the critical role that Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) play in the areas of technical assistance and capacity building. In recent years, Azerbaijan has made strides toward improving civil society sector. In light of the increasing global challenges posed by climate change, the ANNF has recognized the vital role of NGOs and in response to numerous cooperation proposals from foreign NGOs related to the COP29 on Climate Change, and decided to establish the COP29 NGO Coalition. This initiative has garnered significant interest, with 335 foreign NGOs from 70 countries already joining the Coalition, marking a historic moment for Azerbaijani civil society on a global stage.

The primary objective of the COP29 NGO Coalition is to strengthen collaboration between local and international NGOs to address climate change effectively.

The COP29 NGO Coalition represents a unified, powerful voice for civil society in the fight against climate change. The coalition’s efforts will not only impact the outcomes of COP29 but also contribute to the ongoing global movement towards a sustainable and resilient future. Thank you.
