The highly anticipated SHE Congress returned for its fifth edition and brought together influential businesswomen from Azerbaijan and around the world in Baku on May 17, 2023. This year's congress, held at the JW Marriott Absheron Baku hotel, traditionally was a transformative event, inspiring participants to own their life with its thought-provoking discussions and empowering them to drive positive change in society.

The event aims to create a participatory space where women entrepreneurs can gather, share knowledge, and build strong networks. With its natural and inclusive format, SHE Congress fosters open conversations, facilitating the exchange of experiences, ideas, and best practices. It serves as a platform for aspiring women entrepreneurs to find guidance and support at every stage of their business journey, from inception to growth.

Tatiana Mikayilova, an esteemed entrepreneur and the founder of "SHE Congress Baku," shared her insights on the role of women in the development of Azerbaijani society and the importance of increasing their representation in decision-making processes across all sectors. "I'm so happy and proud to see the SHE Congress matter for Azerbaijani women! On the stage of the fourth SHE Congress, women came out to share their experiences who were merely planning their businesses while were in the hall at the first year of the event. This confirms that the huge potential inherent in every woman requires only sincere support and sufficient knowledge in order to get the maximum development. That is why the increase in the number of women at all levels of decision-making in all spheres of society and in all sectors of business will play one of the key roles in the development of Azerbaijan."

Tatiana emphasized the significance of investing in education and fostering financial independence among women in Azerbaijan, recognizing it as a vital step toward their empowerment. "At SHE Congress Baku, we strive to provide women with access to knowledge and education. We believe that knowledge and education are crucial tools for achieving financial independence. Therefore, we encourage women to invest in their education and personal development to become financially independent and fulfilled in all areas of their lives."

Hijran Huseynova, Chairwoman of the Parliamentary Committee on Family, Women, and Children's Affairs, highlighted the evolution and impact of the SHE Congress and noted that "I am delighted to participate in the congress for the fifth time and have noticed a significant increase in the number of women entrepreneurs sharing their experiences. It's worth mentioning that the SHE Congress also serves as a mentoring program for women in business."

Orkhan Mammadov, Chairman of the Agency for the Development of Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises (KOBİA) under the Ministry of Economy, recognized the increasing role of women entrepreneurs in Azerbaijan's economy and their growing interest in starting small businesses and self-employment. Mamedov stated: "The country has seen an increase in the role of women entrepreneurs in the economy and their growing interest in creating small businesses and self-employment. If in 2018 the number of women among private entrepreneurs was 19%, then according to statistics for April 2023, this figure exceeded 22%. I am sure that as a result of joint activities, we will be able to more effectively unlock the potential of women's entrepreneurship for the country."

Michael Nehrbass, Mission Director of USAID/Azerbaijan, emphasized the significance of the event as a space for participatory learning. "As I look to today's event, this conference will be an excellent opportunity for a participatory learning space where everyone can share information, network to build partnerships, and gain new technical knowledge."

The SHE Congress 2023 is organized by Azerbaijan Business Women and was possible through the support of esteemed partners, including Yelo Bank, Azercell, Mastercard, Femmes Digitales, USAID, Bosch, Crimson Education, Braun, PrintArt, Credo, MaxPrint, Beri Bax, and media partners such as 1 News, APA, Trend, Finance Time, Report, Bizim Yol, and Rockvell.
