The Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the International Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation and the Baku Music Academy named after Uzeyir Hajibeyli. The document was signed by the President of the International Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation, Gunay Afandiyeva, and the rector of the Baku Music Academy named after Uzeyir Hajibeyli, Farhad Badalbeyli.

The document envisages joint cooperation between the higher musical educational institutions of the Turkic states in the field of establishing partnerships and cultural exchanges, as well as promoting the music of the Turkic world on the international arena.

Opening the ceremony with an introductory speech and welcoming the guests, the Rector of the Baku Music Academy, People's Artist of Azerbaijan, Professor Farhad Badalbeyli expressed his joy that everyone gathered in the hearth of the genius composer of Azerbaijan, Uzeyir Hajibeyli. Talking about the activities of the Baku Music Academy, he emphasized that the graduates of the Academy successfully represent Azerbaijan at the international level. The Rector appreciated the Memorandum signed by the Baku Music Academy and the International Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation as a step aimed at unifying the musical art of the Turkic states. Farhad Badalbeyli noted that in the modern era, cultural figures of the Turkic world are always ready to support the strengthening of ties between the Turkic peoples who have common roots. The rector highly appreciated the work carried out by the International Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation, and expressed his confidence that cooperation with the organization will make a significant contribution to the development of all-Turkic music and art.

Speaking at the ceremony, the president of the International Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation Gunay Afandiyeva noted that the Baku Music Academy named after Uzeyir Hajibeyli, which has been operating for more than 100 years, played an important role in the education of professional musical personnel in Azerbaijan. She pointed out that the ceremony coincided with the conferment of the city of Shusha on the honorary status of the "Cultural Capital of the Turkic World". The President of the Foundation emphasized that Shusha has become a symbol of victory and pride of the entire Turkic world. Gunay Afandiyeva spoke about the large-scale projects implemented by the organization to promote the historical and cultural heritage of the city of Shusha in various countries of the world. She noted that "Days of Shusha", which the Foundation held for the first time outside of Azerbaijan last year in the Turkish city of Bursa, will soon be continued in the capital of Uzbekistan, Tashkent. The President of the Foundation emphasized that the bringing Turkic peoples closer with the peoples of the world is one of the main priorities of the organization. Gunay Afandiyeva spoke about the Foundation’s activities in the musical sphere. She noted that the signed Memorandum of Understanding will create an opportunity to conduct joint projects, award outstanding students, attract the Academy's teaching staff as specialists to the organization's events, etc. She emphasized the importance of creating centers of the Turkic world in various higher education institutions in cooperation with the Foundation. Gunay Afandiyeva noted that the creation of a large network based on them will contribute to the integration of the Turkic peoples, as well as the strengthening of mutual cultural and spiritual exchanges.

The event continued with a concert program, including music and songs by Turkic composers performed by the Baku Chamber Orchestra as well as the teaching and student staff of the Baku Music Academy.

TURKPA Secretary-General Mehmet Sureyya Er, ambassadors and representatives of member states of the Foundation and other countries, teaching staff of the Baku Music Academy, cultural and art representatives, media representatives took part in the ceremony.
