On 2 February 2022, the German-Azerbaijani Chamber of Commerce (AHK Azerbaijan) and the Plovdiv Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI) organised a virtual pre-delegation workshop on the topics “How to Export Wine to Azerbaijan” and “How to Export Wine to Bulgaria”. A strategic workshop and discussion on “Market Entry, Export and Internationalization” took place at the end of the training between the participants.

The workshop was organised within the framework of the project “From Grape to Trade: Building synergies between Bulgarian and Azerbaijani wine exporters”. The meeting started with the welcoming speech by the Head of Business Services Department of AHK Azerbaijan, Mr. Fabian Zittlau and the Business Services Expert of PCCI, Ms. Elena Boyadzhieva.

In the first module of the workshop, the Chief Advisor to the Trade Representative of the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the Republic of Poland, Mr. Mirza Alakbar Babayev held a speech on the topic of “How to Export Wine to the EU/Azerbaijan”. Afterwards, the Head of Product Development of the Azerbaijan Tourism Board, Ms. Sharifa Hasanova gave a presentation on “Wine Tourism in Azerbaijan”.

The co-founder of RakiaSHOP and ProEx Wine, Mr. Svetlin Mirchev gave a speech about importing and exporting wine to Bulgaria. Founder and co-owner of WineTours Bulgaria Ltd, Ms. Gergana Todorova and Ms. Krassimira Kodukova informed the participants on wine touristic destinations in Bulgaria.

In the final part of the meeting, the participants had a discussion on “Market Entry, Export and Internationalization”, where the companies discussed current opportunities and challenges for wine exporters, as well as possibilities for the Azerbaijani and Bulgarian companies to collaborate.

The project “From Grape to Trade: Building synergies between Bulgarian and Azerbaijani wine exporters” is funded by the European Union's EU4Business: Connecting Companies (EU4BCC) initiative, which is managed by EUROCHAMBRES. Within the framework of the project, the Azerbaijani wine exporters will have a chance to present their products during a study visit to Bulgaria from 8-12 March 2022. This will also include the VINARIA wine exhibition in Plovdiv. Following this, on 14 March 2022, AHK Azerbaijan will organise the 1st EU-Azerbaijan Wine Summit and a study visit along the Azerbaijani Wine Route from 13-17 March 2022.
