Energy Minister held discussions with Somalia`s Minister in Türkiye

Within the Istanbul Natural Resources Summit held in Türkiye, a meeting took place between Azerbaijan’s Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov and Somalia’s Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Dahir Shire Mohamed.

During the meeting, the parties exchanged views on issues arising from the implementation of the existing Memorandum of Understanding between the two countries in the fields of oil and gas, as well as the establishment of a Joint Working Group.

Information was provided on Somalia’s hydrocarbon resources and the current status of cooperation with Türkiye’s TPAO. Potential cooperation areas with Azerbaijan were also considered. In addition, the issue of Somali students studying in oil and gas specialties in Azerbaijan was discussed.

During the conversation, the Somali side was also invited to attend Baku Energy Week.
