Baku State University (BSU) hosted the opening ceremony of the international conference “Transformation and Integration in the Turkic World: Economics, Politics, and Technology.” The event was organized in partnership with Ankara Haci Bayram Veli University, Girne American University (Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus), Azerbaijan University of Tourism and Management, and Karabakh University.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, BSU Rector Elchin Babayev emphasized the growing importance of scientific and educational institutions amid global transformations, digitalization, artificial intelligence, and geopolitical changes. He noted that integration processes in the Turkic world are entering a new stage and highlighted the important role of universities and research centers in strengthening scientific cooperation and intellectual collaboration.

Turkish Ambassador to Azerbaijan Birol Akgün stated that the Turkic world today represents not only a shared past, but also a shared future. He highlighted the strategic importance of Turkish-Azerbaijani relations and major regional projects in strengthening integration across the Turkic world.

The event also featured speeches by Professor Hijran Huseynova, Chair of the Milli Majlis Committee on Family, Women, and Children's Affairs and Head of the Department of Diplomacy and Modern Integration Processes at Baku State University; Ufuk Turganer, Representative of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus to Azerbaijan; Shahin Bayramov, Rector of Karabakh University; Serdar Yurtsever, Rector of Girne American University; Ilham Madatov, Rector of Azerbaijan University of Tourism and Management; and Hacı Bayram Veli Kürşat Göktürk, Vice-Rector of Ankara University.

The conference continued with a panel discussion on the integration of the Turkic world and will proceed in sectional and online sessions on May 8.
