On the eve of the Southern Gas Corridor Advisory Council 12th Ministerial Meeting and Green Energy Advisory Council 4th Ministerial Meeting, Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov met with Moldovan Energy Minister Dorin Junghietu and TAP AG Managing Director Luca Schieppati.
At the meeting with Moldovan Energy Minister Dorin Junghietu, the sides exchanged views on the expected demand for natural gas and the importance of a pragmatic policy to support the development of gas projects. Cooperation opportunities within the framework of liberalization of the gas market of Moldova, as well as holding tenders for wind power plants and energy storage facilities were evaluated.
At the meeting with TAP AG Managing Director Luca Schieppati, the significant role of TAP as a strategic infrastructure project integrated into the energy networks of Europe and the Balkans in ensuring reliable energy supply was noted. As part of the completion of the first phase of TAP expansion in early 2026, an additional increase in the transmission capacity of the pipeline by 1.2 billion was highly appreciated. It was stated that the development of the natural gas market and changes in demand are currently being assessed, and the mandatory market test for the next phase of expansion is planned to begin in the first quarter of next year.
Up to date, more than 56 bcm of natural gas have been transported to Europe via TAP.
