The opening ceremony of the Ustyurt Operating Company office took place in Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan.
The ceremony brought together Bakhodirjon Sidikov, Chairman of the Management Board of Uzbekneftegaz JSC; Arzu Javadova, Vice President of SOCAR; members of the project teams; and representatives of state institutions that supported the project.
Speakers noted that the Ustyurt Operating Company will play a key role in advancing geological exploration potential, applying cutting-edge technologies, and strengthening energy resilience in the region. They emphasized that the establishment of the company and the opening of its office reflect the strong friendship and brotherly ties between Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan. The political will of the two Heads of State, along with high-level governmental support, continues to drive the implementation of such important joint projects.
The Production Sharing Agreement (PSA) for the exploration, development, and production of the Ustyurt investment blocks (Boyterak, Terenqquduq, Birgori, Kharoy, Korakalpok, and Kulboy) marks a significant milestone in the execution of the Azerbaijan–Uzbekistan energy cooperation strategy.
The commissioning of the operator company’s office signals the transition of the project into its active operational phase. In a short period, the project teams completed all essential preparatory steps — including registering the operator, obtaining the necessary licenses, and finalizing procedures required to launch geological exploration activities.
