On November 7, the Azerbaijan National Carpet Museum held the presentation of carpet Jangi. The carpet is dedicated to the 5th anniversary of the Victory in the Patriotic War.
At the event, the actors of Theater O2 performed a specially prepared play dedicated to the presentation of the carpet Jangi. The author and director of the play was Konstantin Soldatov, and the choreographer was Nigar Ibragimbeyli.
Afterward, the Director of the Azerbaijan National Carpet Museum, Amina Melikova, art critic and visual art theorist Elchin Shamilli, and the author of the work, artist CHINGIZ, delivered speeches. They talked about the conceptual content of the Jangi carpet, its creative process, and the importance of a contemporary approach in carpet art. They emphasized that this artwork symbolizes the historic Victory achieved in the Patriotic War, as well as the national spirit and unity. They sincerely congratulated the Azerbaijani people on Victory Day and honored the cherished memory of the fallen warriors.
Created by CHINGIZ, the carpet expresses the heroic spirit, combat resolve, excitement, and pride of the Azerbaijani nation through contemporary fine art. The dancing silhouettes of wounded warriors along the border of the carpet symbolize unity, resolve, and memory. This artwork harmoniously combines the tradition of carpet art, symbolic codes of the national dance, and tragic experience of war. Being a living expression of the nation’s historic memory, the carpet demonstrates the continuity of the Azerbaijani cultural heritage.
The technical sketch of the carpet was created by carpet artist Afag Abdullayeva. The carpet was woven by weavers Rana Suleymanova, Ulduz Najafova, and Shakarmo Alasgarolova at the Traditional Technologies Department of the Azerbaijan National Carpet Museum within 8 months.
The event was organized by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Azerbaijan and by the Azerbaijan National Carpet Museum.
