A ceremony was held to mark the production of 1 billion kWh of electricity at the Garadagh Solar Power Plant, which has an installed capacity of 230 MW.
The senior officials from the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Azerenergy OJSC, and the United Arab Emirates-based company Masdar attended at the event.
t was noted that the Garadagh Solar Power Plant, commissioned in 2023, is the first large-scale international investment project in the field of renewable energy in Azerbaijan, making a significant contribution to the country’s transition to green energy. The 1 billion kWh of electricity generated over two years have enabled the saving of 220 million cubic meters of natural gas nationwide and prevented the release of 400,000 tons of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere.
Then the ceremony of signing the symbolic certificate was held. On behalf of the Azerbaijani side, the certificate was signed by Head of AREA under the Ministry of Energy Mr. Javid Abdullayev, and Deputy Chairman of the Management Board of Azerenergy OJSC, Mr. Rustam Gasimov, and was presented to Mr. Abdulaziz Alobaidli, Chief Operating Officer of Masdar.
It should be noted that the Garadagh Solar Power Plant generates approximately 500 million kilowatt-hours of electricity annually, providing green energy to around 110,000 households.
