Music production is a profession that involves creative and technical leadership in the process of creating, recording, processing, and distributing a musical work. The producer acts as the main curator of a music project, and in some cases, even its director.
Hasan Mammadlyarov, who has been working as a music producer for 20 years and has led many successful projects, was a guest of AZXEBER.COM.
The experienced producer spoke with us about his new projects:
- How do you assess the place of Azerbaijani music in the global music market?
- Azerbaijani music has enormous potential on the global market. Our country’s rich musical heritage — especially mugham, folk music, and the distinctive sound of our national instruments — represents a unique color in the global musical palette. However, realizing this potential fully requires both systemic support and a modern production approach. Azerbaijani music truly deserves a place on the global stage. The question lies in how and with whom we deliver this value to the world. Our mission is to make that happen.
- In your opinion, what qualities are essential to becoming a successful producer?
- Being a successful producer is not just about having technical knowledge. First and foremost, a creative vision is essential. A producer must be able to approach music not only from a technical perspective, but also from an artistic and strategic one. Secondly, strong communication and leadership skills are crucial. A producer works with many people — performers, sound engineers, arrangers, and managers. Successfully managing this process requires strong decision-making abilities.
- Do you have any upcoming projects or collaborations?
- Yes, we are currently working on the preparations for a concert by Eyyub Yaqubov, which is scheduled for March. We are developing the project with a large and professional team. God willing, once all the details are finalized, we’ll share the news with the public.
