Window opens to the East. Photo exhibition by Rustam Huseynov in the Oryol State United Literary Museum of I.S. Turgenev - VIDEO

The exhibition of works by Azerbaijani photographer Rustam Huseynov opened in the Oryol United State Literary Museum of I.S. Turgenev (Oryol, Russia) on November 9.

The exhibition "An Extraordinary Journey with Turgenev to the East" is timed to coincide with a traditional holiday in Oryol - the birthday of a native of this city, a classic of Russian literature Ivan Sergeevich Turgenev. The exhibition became the first cultural event of its kind, which after a long break drew the attention of residents of the "third literary capital" to the East. Rustam Huseynov presented an exposition of his photographs dedicated to the architecture and nature of Azerbaijan.

The majestic mountains of Azerbaijan, the intricate interlacing of its roads, the scarlet glow of blooming poppies in the valleys, the waves of the Caspian surf, the exquisite beauty of the ancient architecture of Azerbaijan are presented to the eyes of visitors in the laconic and expressive shots of the master. Thus, with the works of Rustam Huseynov, the window to the East opened for the residents of the city of Orel.

It was not by chance that the Literary Museum of I.S. Turgenev presented this photo journey: after all, the Russian writer was captivated by the East — the “land of wonders” — since childhood, as evidenced by his book collection. The same is true for the brilliant “eastern pages” of Turgenev’s “mysterious stories”, his interest in the works of the great poets of the East. Following Turgenev, his fellow countrymen — classics of Russian literature: A. Fet, N. Leskov, I. Bunin, L. Andreyev and others — made a literary journey to the East.

The exhibition of Rustam Huseynov’s works will last until January 20, 1925.
