Within the framework of the Second Festival of Literature and Books of the Turkic World held in Baku, a presentation of the book “Sagymbaidyn Manasy” (“Manas of Sagymbai”) published by the International Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation with the International Turkic Academy took place.
The author of the book "Sagymbaidyn Manasy" is the famous Kyrgyz manaschi Rysbai Isakov, who entered the Guinness Book of Records for the longest recitation of the "Manas" epic.
The book contains a prose version of the 9-volume poetic version of the epic by Sagymbai Orozbakov, which is considered among folklore scholars as a classic version of the epic. In the book, the author gave interpretations of meanings, as well as explanations of various archaisms and loanwords from other languages. The book makes the "Manas" epic more accessible to a wide audience, thereby contributing to the promotion of the common Turkic cultural heritage.
Speaking at the presentation of the book, the Program Manager of the International Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation Mirbek Karybaev noted that the book by Rysbai Isakov is evidence of the connection between generations. “Being an excellent example of the spiritual life of the Kyrgyz people, the “Manas” epic is a true treasure of the rich cultural heritage of the entire Turkic world, as a bright pinnacle of storytelling art. Therefore, the importance of this book for the promotion of the cultural heritage of the Turkic world can hardly be overestimated,” concluded Mirbek Karybaev.
Vice President of the International Turkic Academy Erhan Turbedar noted in his speech that the “Manas” epic reflects the common Turkic history and culture, and also contains the consciousness of Turkism. “In the epic, all Turkic tribes are called by a common name. For this reason, the Manas epic is of great importance not only for the Kyrgyz, but for the entire Turkic world and Turkism”, noted Erhan Turbedar.
Then, the author of the book, Rysbai Isakov, performed an excerpt from the “Manas” epic. The event aroused great interest among the audience and the media.
