An event titled “The Condition of Historical Monuments in Territories Liberated from Occupation” was held at the Faculty of Social Sciences and Psychology of Baku State University (BSU) within the framework of the “Year of Urban Development and Architecture.”

Dean Rovshan Javadov emphasized that many historical, cultural, and religious monuments were destroyed or damaged during the occupation, noting that large-scale restoration and reconstruction efforts are now underway in Karabakh and Eastern Zangezur.

Seyran Guliyev, a representative of the State Service for the Protection, Development, and Restoration of Cultural Heritage, spoke about Azerbaijan’s architectural heritage and ongoing inventory and conservation work in the liberated territories. He highlighted that the documentation process began in November 2020 and continues in stages.

The event also featured visual materials on the current condition of monuments across 11 districts. Students’ questions on the registration and assessment of cultural heritage sites were addressed at the end.
